Your field guide
Islands & ship Begin in the Meadow. Each island contains up to 2,000 natural resource blocks; its cave contains up to 500 stone/ore deposits. Buildings and planted trees are separate. Craft a ship with 300 wood, 200 stone and 70 copper ore, walk near water, then choose Sail to another island. Rain Forest has birds and waterfalls; Mystical Forest has blue wood, pink leaves and alien animals; Mushroom Land has giant mushrooms and mushroom animals. Each island saves your changes.
Culture & house levels Choose from the 24 cultures when starting. Your choice styles your own walls, roofs and towers. Build a connected starter house with at least 4 stone path floor tiles, 3 walls of any kind, 2 roofs and a door. Expand it into a larger home, stone fort and castle. K selects a stone tower. All 20 objectives appear in Craft. Gathered totals count even after crafting spends the materials. Sleep in a bed to return to that island after death.
E ↑ · R ↓ · T ← · Y → Player 1 walks using these keys in the same positions on QWERTY and AZERTY. Solo can also use arrows; in co-op arrows belong to Player 2.
Click · 1–9 Use a tool within 3 tiles. Axe chops trees for wood, leaves, and tree seeds; pickaxe gathers stone. Sword fights slimes and hunts animals.
B Toggle building. Click to place; right click to break. Sandbox has free crafting and no damage. Craft each tool, block, or seed once to unlock its unlimited use; you still begin with only Hand and Water.
Farming Pick carrot, wheat, corn, or tomato in the Plant menu. Hoe → Seeds → Water. Crops ripen in 70–110 seconds. Harvesting gives food and a seed. Rain also waters crops.
Tree seeds Select Tree saplings, then use Seeds on grass. Trees regrow in 2 minutes. Leaves can be crafted into cabin walls.
Digging · 9 Select the shovel and click clear grass or soil nearby. Faint ground cracks hide buried chests. Dig to uncover them, then use Hand (7) to open. Village house chests are above ground. Your spawn starts without a house.
Fishing · 8 Click nearby water with the rod. Wait for “Bite!”, then click water within 4 seconds. Walking too far cancels the cast.
Hunting & eating · F Hunt roaming cows, sheep, chickens, deer, or boars with your sword. Craft cooked meat with raw meat and wood. F eats available cooked meat, fish, or crops to heal.
Horses Select Hand and click a horse. Feed it two carrots or wheat to tame it. Click again to mount. Some horses are steady, some lively, and some swift; their riding speeds stay saved. H dismounts. Each player owns their own horses.
Villages Explore rainforest and dark forest to find settlements. Walk through the open house fronts. Hand opens chests and trades with villagers. Farmers sell food and seeds; blacksmiths sell swords and other tools; cloth sellers sell outfits, hats, and accessories, and buy 2 wool for 6 coins. Sheep drop 2 wool when killed. Farmers wear green and a straw hat, blacksmiths wear blue with an eye patch, and cloth sellers wear purple with a pink scarf and glasses. Use Hand to open trading and see their name and job. Villagers have no floating labels. Village maps show only their village and your position. Map controls appear after you obtain a map. A rare world map is hidden in one buried chest: it reveals biomes, villages, and your buildings. Journals offer a clue. Each chest can be looted once.
Five worlds New worlds randomly choose Fern Valley, Wild River, Moonwood, Sun Meadow, or Mist Shore. Each has its own terrain and village layout. Saved worlds keep their layout.
A fresh start New worlds start in Normal mode with no items and the default outfit. Hand and Water are available; use Hand on bushes for wood and seeds, or rocks for loose stone. Craft your axe, pickaxe, hoe, sword, rod, shovel, and blocks at the workbench. Old saves keep their belongings.
Fire portal & ending Mine four rare storm ore with an iron pickaxe, then craft a portal with 12 stone. B → 0 selects it. Place on the surface and use Hand during thunder to activate it. The 2,400-health fire dragon throws fireballs and marked blasts, and enrages at half health. Defeat it to finish the game and unlock fire armor; J / Shift+J equips it. Hand on the return portal leaves the fire realm. Retreating resets an undefeated dragon.
Building hunger Every eight successful placements/removals costs 3 health. Eat with F. Peaceful recovery waits until you rest from building. Sandbox has no work cost.
Caves & tools Find a rocky cave entrance and use Hand (7). In co-op you enter together. Mine stone and copper with Pickaxe (2); upgrade it at the workbench to mine iron. Copper and iron upgrades give axes/pickaxes more resources and swords more damage. Hand on the ladder returns to the surface.
Lanterns Use the Lantern button to switch your carried light on or off. Use Hand on a placed lantern to toggle its light. Players start without a glow.
Beds · Build 9 Craft a cozy bed with 6 wood and 4 leaves. B → 9 → click to place it; use Hand (7) after dark to sleep until 08:00. In co-op each player needs their own bed, and both must sleep. Move to wake up while waiting.
Respawn: press Home Close the guide and press Home to respawn Player 1 at your last sleeping bed, or a random safe place if you have never slept, keeping your inventory. You can also click the button below or the Respawn button in Craft. In co-op, Shift + R respawns Player 2; distant friends regroup.
Sea exploration Craft a submarine with 5 copper ore, 8 iron ore, 3 wood, and 4 stone. Stand near water and choose Launch submarine in Craft. Steer with your movement keys; both players share the submarine. Use Hand on underwater chests to collect treasure and on the buoy to return to shore. Leaving the submarine underwater with H (P2: Shift+H) is fatal, including in Sandbox.
Doors & fences Craft doors with 3 wood. G selects a door for placement; Hand opens and closes it. Closed doors block enemies and their attacks. Fence rails connect to neighboring fences and walls to form animal pens.
Death & beds Death pauses the game and shows its cause with a Respawn button. Sleeping in a bed sets that player’s respawn point, even while waiting for a co-op partner. Without a sleeping bed, respawning chooses a random safe surface location. Inventory is kept.
Local co-op Enable two players in Settings. P2 uses arrows, N to select, U to toggle building, Enter to use, Backspace to break, Shift+F to eat, Shift+H to dismount, Shift+R to respawn. P2’s blue square follows their facing direction: tap an arrow to point it, then Enter to use the tool there. The backpack and Plant choice are shared. Stay together for the shared camera.
I / C / Esc Craft / customize / pause. Character includes hats, bows, and scarves. Settings selects Peaceful, Normal, Hard, or Sandbox. Slimes appear at night in Normal and Hard.
Your world autosaves every 20 seconds. Export backups in Settings. Menus and hidden tabs pause the simulation. Existing worlds are upgraded automatically.
